So, I survived the supposed zombie apocalypse Rapture without being whipped away to either Heaven or Hell. Is everyone else okay?

No one I know was ruptured...the "7000 years after some important thing" meme has some historical precedent, using the Eastern Orthodox date of 5509 B.C. for the creation of the world puts their year 7000 in the our year 1492, at least historically significant...

No ruptures here, either. But we had a moster tornado yesterday. Missed our house by a couple of miles, we just had our tulips de-flowered; but there were more thatn 100 houses damaged.
Nothing compared to what hit Joplin, though.

I'm glad you're ok, Bjorn. I lost a few shingles from my roof yesterday, but no touchdowns in my neck of the woods. The news out of Joplin is heartbreaking, though.

James went in early this morning, so I got Abigail up and sent her off to shower while I fixed her lunch. All of a sudden, I heard the shower curtain fall, a large thud, and a wail start to rise up. I ran to her bathroom and opened the door to see a few limbs protruding from under the curtain. Fortunately, she only hit her back, so no blood or concussions.
I asked her what happened once I got her up and calm. She said the light was bright in her face (same light as always, and never a problem before), so she closed her eyes, and the next thing she knew she was in the floor. I think she passed out for a second, which naturally scared the snot out of me more. She finished showering in my bathroom, got dressed and got some breakfast, and is now sitting in the den watching Disney shows that make me want to flee the room.
My friend is coming over in a bit to drive me to our craft-making group at church. My friend is also a nurse who worked in pediatrics for years, so she's going to check her out. If she confirms that she's okay, I'll take her on to school. If not, off to the doctor we go!

Any update, Carol? That must have been scary, both for you and Abigail!

She's perfectly fine now, save a sore back. We think she didn't eat much supper last night (she felt fine, but was distracted by a new art kit), plus has lost sleep from her sniffling (allergies, which she gets testing for soon), and they made a perfect storm where she passed out for a second. She also said there were bright lights flashing in her eyes, so she closed them to try get rid of the lights. That's when she went bonk.
My friend the nurse checked her out thoroughly and okayed sending her back to school. If it was just a fluke and doesn't happen again, we'll chalk it up to one of those freaky things that happens. If it does, or even if she sees those bright flashy lights again, I'll take her in to the doctor ASAP.

yes glad she's ok! Katie did that to me once last summer - I got her up to get on the Wii - we'd just started using the Wii Fit and she'd wanted to weigh in at the same time. She was being lazy and so dragged herself out there. She stood on it like she was supposed to, and then sat on the piano bench...adn then went over! Eyes rolled back and everything. I was smacking at her hands and her cheek and she woke up. She said she'd felt dizzy, got up too quickly from bed. It's never happened again but damn, scary!

So my home town is being hammered by more quakes and aftershocks. Thanks to the latest bunch being on a new fault (possibly a fault created by the quake in Feb. Like we didn't have enough already) there's a 30% chance of another big shake (at least a 5 or 6) happening within the next year. When does Christchurch get a break?
In good news, all my family and friends appear to be fine, if a bit shaken up.
